It does not matter what
age, size, sex or shape you are, motocross can provide you with
endless amount of fun. The basics of motocross involves you and
your bike chasing (or leading if you are really good) other bikes
around a man made track. Its great fun to watch, even better fun
to join in, but be warned, if you try it, you will be hooked. Oh,
and be prepared to get muddy.
Here is a list of the
basic ingredients that you will need to start up in motocross:-
A
bike
Kit to wear on it
A place to ride
A way to transport your bike
Someone to take or go with you
We aim to provide you
with a means to find all of the above ingredients, except the last
one. You'll have to sort that out yourselves. If you go to the Shops
and Services sections of this site, you should be able to sort out
the first four items pretty easily. If you can't, let us know because
we're not doing our job properly. Below I explain the 5 sections
above in more detail, giving you a quick glance into what it should
be costing you.
Getting Started
In MX Round Up.
Once you have got all
of the kit to wear, a bike to ride, transportation sorted, tracks
to go to and people to go with, all that's left is some good fun.
Motocross is a very demanding sport on the body, if you want to
be anything like the top riders you'll have to train hard mentally
and physically. It may be worth going on a motocross training day
to help you develop your skills, and they will be able to advise
there on training tips. Like anything, it can be tough sometimes,
especially if you feel like you are not making progress, but if
you keep at it, and enjoy it for what it is, I am sure you will
get many years of fun out of the sport, like I intend to. Let us
know how you get on.
